Product overview
Description
Infrared refrigerant detection
The LL33 Infrared Refrigerant Leak Detector is designed for locating refrigerant leaks during HVAC/R maintenance and repair. It detects a wide range of halogenated refrigerants, including CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, HCs, HFOs and refrigerant blends, making it suitable for air-conditioning, refrigeration and automotive A/C service.
The infrared sensor detects changes in refrigerant concentration through infrared absorption at a selected wavelength. Compared with heated-diode sensing, the infrared method offers stronger resistance to interference and sensor poisoning, while supporting a longer sensor service life.
Leak location in field service
Three sensitivity levels allow the operator to adjust the detector to the inspection task. The flexible probe can be moved around joints, fittings and other suspected leakage areas, while the TFT display and peak indication provide a clear visual reference as the refrigerant signal changes.
The LL33 requires approximately 30 seconds to warm up and provides up to 8 hours of operation per charge, making it suitable for repeated leak checks during routine HVAC/R service. The infrared sensor is rated for a service life of up to 10 years.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common technical and operational questions about the LL33.
Will the LL33 detect the refrigerant used in my system?
The LL33 detects a wide range of halogenated refrigerants, including CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, HCs, HFOs and blends. Supported examples include R32 and R1234yf. Confirm the refrigerant used in your system if compatibility needs to be checked before purchase.
Why choose an infrared detector instead of a heated-diode leak detector?
Infrared sensing is less susceptible to interference and sensor poisoning and is designed for longer sensor life. This makes it suitable for technicians who carry out refrigerant leak checks regularly.
Can I adjust the sensitivity while searching for a leak?
Yes. The LL33 provides high, medium and low sensitivity settings, allowing the detector response to be adjusted for different leak-inspection conditions.
Can the LL33 be used for both HVAC/R and automotive A/C service?
Yes. It is intended for refrigerant leak inspection in air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and is also specified for automotive A/C leak detection.
How often does the infrared sensor need to be replaced?
The infrared sensor is specified with a service life of up to 10 years, reducing the need for frequent sensor replacement during normal use.
